For this project, I challenged myself to mock a typical magazine layout and instead replace the fashion aspects and talk about child labor in sweatshops. This would never be seen in a fashion magazine but I wanted to go this route to take away the typical essence of a fashion magazine and replace it with a narration of a little boy from Bangladesh going to work at one of these sweatshops and what his life looks like.

MAGAZINE/NEWS ARTICLE DESIGN

I wanted a continuation of my message, I created a news article layout to bring attention to the issue of sweatshops, with a mock traditional newspaper look. The focus was on increasing a tone of anger throughout the pages, using graphic imagery to emphasize the terrifying working conditions in Italian factories that import Chinese workers. These workers are paid the same wage they would earn in China, highlighting the exploitation that occurs. The goal was to shed light on the hidden reality of sweatshops that many famous designer companies turn a blind eye to.
